Experience/Interests:
Dr Kate Ritchie is a GP and mother of 3 young children. After growing up in Brisbane, she is proud to have completed both her undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BSc) and post-graduate Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) through the University of Queensland. Prior to commencing her specialty training in General Practice, Kate embarked upon an around-the-world adventure that culminated in a 6-month locum in Ireland as a doctor – a remarkable experience that sparked a love of travel and travel medicine. She returned to Brisbane to complete her training in General Practice, achieving her FRACGP and a Diploma in Child Health through Westmead Hospital, Sydney.
Kate has special interests in family medicine, in particular, women’s health, paediatrics, and Travel Medicine, and is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Travel Medicine through JCU. She enjoys the personal and diverse nature of General Practice and the remarkable gift that is getting to know her patients and their families over time.
When not at work, Kate enjoys playing with her 3 small children, her cocker spaniel, and together with her husband loves to travel, ski, listen to music and spend time with their wonderful family and friends.
