Milton Village Medical has been included on the list of eligible practices participating in the national COVID-19 vaccine roll-out.

 

Patients will need to prove their eligibility to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Individuals and health professionals can use the COVID19 vaccine eligibility checker to see if an individual is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation- link opens in a new window (ATAGI) recommends the COVID-19 Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine as the preferred vaccine for people aged 12 to 59 years, but the AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) vaccine can also be provided to 18 to 59 year olds. Seek advice from your vaccine provider to decide if AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) is right for you.

All residential aged care workers are eligible to receive the Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine regardless of age. If you work in residential aged care, you can contact the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080 and select option 4 for priority assistance and advice relating to booking your COVID-19 vaccine.

  • All people over the age of 12 are eligible for vaccination.

  • AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) is not approved for people under 18 at this stage

Patients aged 60years and over, may be eligible for the Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine in the case of an exceptional circumstance, where a medical exemption applies:

If aged 60 and over with :-

  • past history of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST)

  • past history of Heparin-induced thrombocytopaenia (HIT)

  • past history of idiopathic splanchnic (mesenteric, portal, splenic) vein thrombosis

  • antiphospholipid syndrome WITH thrombosis and

  • contra-indications to Covid-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca including:-

    • anaphylaxis to a previous dose or to an ingredient of the vaccine

    • thrombosis with thrombocytopenia occurring after the first dose of AZ

    • another serious adverse event attributed to the first dose of AZ
